Peter has over 30 years’ experience in planning and managing major engineering projects and businesses. He joined UGL in 2001 to assist the CEO & Managing Director, Richard Leupen in growing the business. At that stage it had less than 3000 employees and $600m in turnover: UGL now has over 40, 000 employees and $4500 million dollars in annual revenue.
In the role of Group General Manager – Operations and Development, Peter oversees and coordinates business development across the whole company, reviews major tenders, manages UGL’s business partner program and manages Government relations.
Prior to joining UGL, Peter was the CEO and Project Director for the Parramatta Rail Link company, an organisation set up by the NSW Government to build the 26 km underground rail link from Parramatta to Chatswood in Sydney. Peter set up the company, engaged designers, obtained environmental and budget approvals and called the major tenders before moving to UGL. Prior to this, Peter managed the NSW office of Halliburton/KBR, was Manager Infrastructure Projects for Transfield and was a consultant project manager on major projects ranging from railways and roads to offices and museums. Peter spent the first 10 years of his career working, primarily in Asia, on water resources projects for SMEC.
Peter graduated with first class honours in Civil Engineering from the University of New South Wales, he also has a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Purdue University, Indiana, USA, and an MBA from Deakin University and is a member of the Institute of Company Directors of Australia.
