The AGC brings together corporate, political and diplomatic representatives at the highest level to facilitate the two way flow of capital along with greater levels of political, economic and cultural understanding. The organisation works closely with embassies and other officials to provide the link between government and business.

The overall objective of the AGC is to promote increased trade, commerce and investment between Australia, the GCC, and their respective regions by harnessing the support of the top companies involved in this dynamic and evolving relationship. The AGC is also committed to fostering cultural exchange through entertainment, sport, the arts and business to bring the Asia-Pacific and Gulf regions and their respective countries closer together.

The AGC has been endorsed by Hon Bob Hawke AC, Prime Minister of Australia 1983-91 and Hon Peter Costello AC, Treasurer of Australia 1996-2007, both of whom have on-going key roles. Bob Hawke and Peter Costello are Australia’s longest serving Labor Prime Minister and Federal Treasurer respectively.

The AGC has been established as a not for profit company to ensure the highest standards of governance and accountability required of a preeminent membership based organisation.

It is governed by a Board of Directors sourced from member organisations and stakeholders with skills and experience in both Gulf – Australia trade and corporate governance. The AGC is also supported by a Council of Distinguished Advisors made up of Australian business leaders with a keen involvement in the Gulf – Australian relationship.

The AGC’s Secretariat is staffed by Chief Executive, Hon Michael Yabsley; Georgie Skipper, Director, Government and Corporate Affairs; Simone Thielbeer, Programme Manager and Nicole Bucci, Marketing Manager.
